Early Times Report JAMMU, June 27: The 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking' is observed annually on 26th of June, and this year's theme is 'Break the Cycle. #Stop Organized Crime'. The Viksit Bharat (Developed India) 2047 vision aims to transform India into a prosperous, self-reliant, and progressive nation. However, one of the major roadblocks to achieving this vision is drug addiction, which affects the youth, the workforce, and society as a whole. So, this is a problem of great concern that needs to be properly dealt with. As a contributory step towards generating awareness regarding the fact that drugs take one to hell, disguised as heaven, Anti Drugs and Rehabilitation Cell of Government Degree College Sidhra, Jammu under the able guidance of worthy Principal of the college Prof. Seema Mir organized different activities. The second activity was 'Social Media Awareness Campaign' in which the students used social media to maximize outreach for sharing informative content. They amplified the global theme-with thought-provoking messages, captions, and visuals through platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Students from various semesters enthusiastically took part in this activity aiming to spread valuable insights on the physical, mental, and social consequences of addiction; educating the public that drugs damage our brain and body, destroy relationships, and rob individuals of their dreams and future and providing a deeper understanding that drug abuse is not just a personal struggle but a gateway that strengthens the roots of organized crime. The students used this day to inspire general public, especially youngsters and teenagers to reflect, resist, and rise against the destructive link between addiction and crime by saying No to drugs because every time they say no to drugs, they weaken the grip of organized crime thereby collectively contributing towards a drug-free, healthier, and happier world.
