Temple of learning ?
ADV. Jia Singh7/2/2025 11:21:49 PM
Educational places were once considered as temples, temple of learning.colleges/schools was the safest place, where parents and student felt safe, but these days these became the space for brutal atrocities.Recent another egregious incident of kolkata ,has made us thought where in this world is the safe place for women? Protests in kolkata have been raucous and at times violent, but question is do women too have right to live with dignity? Right to education? Right to life? From these daily incidents of rapes , women can only feel safest in a corner of her house ! If this is what man wants from women,if she wants to be safe . After tons of revolutions , woman got free to choose her ambition, free to choose to live her life in her way, but how? If woman knows rapist can be outside her door ,how can even she step out??
Whom to balme ?Is this a government’s failure?college security? Hospital security? Yes we see apology post, hand folded or cry emoji! Thanks a million! But this is not what is needed.we live in a country, where teachers still feel hesitate to talk about Rape, sexual assault, stalking….why?Watching daily cases of rapes, assaults but none steps were taken to prevent it .Reforms, initiatives are needed to stop these brutal incidents.Do educational institutions have to educate child to earn only ?to become financially independent only?
From primary classes to middle school to high school a lot can be taught. In primary schools kids should have taught about good/bad touch, to complain,to take a stand against any kind of assault. In middle school pocso (protection of children from sexual offences)an important act made for the protection of a child ,important things can be taught to children ..wrongs, punishments, they shoukd be taught about how child friendly act is for child.
In high school to colleges, children should be well known of term rape, sexual assaults.Schools can even do ethics class/woman/ man safety classes, they could have healthy speech on these issues, and safety measures.
Teacher can correct and help in many way as he/she students thinks.
Stringent laws and punishments are already there, but still cases are on rise….why? Schools and colleges are not ready to take any initiatives themselves,so ministry of education can play a significant role in farming few important guidelines .Teaching students what is meant for them, their rights is not out of syllabus but a collapse of civilised society.
