FICCI FLO hosts financial literacy camp

JAMMU, July 3: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter today organized a Financial Literacy Camp at Kissan Kendra, Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu, in collaboration with J&K Bank and Unati Agri Allied and Marketing Multi-State Cooperative Limited. The initiative aimed to empower over 200 farmers, predominantly women, by equipping them with critical knowledge on digital banking, loan schemes, and online transactions to promote financial inclusion and rural women empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, Aarti Chowdhary, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JK&L, said, "Financial awareness is the first step toward economic independence. By enabling rural women to understand and access digital and financial tools, we are nurturing grassroots transformation."
The FICCI FLO JK&L Chairperson further said, "FICCI FLO is committed to empowering rural women through financial literacy, skill development, and sustainable livelihood initiatives. By bringing together institutions, cooperatives, and government bodies, we aim to create an ecosystem where women farmers can thrive as independent, informed, and economically empowered individuals."
Banking experts from J&K Bank conducted sessions on secure digital payments, government-backed credit schemes, and financial planning for self-help groups and farmer cooperatives. The program received overwhelming participation and enthusiasm from women across various farmer cooperatives.
On the sidelines of the camp, a plantation drive under the banner "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" was also carried out to promote environmental consciousness and sustainability. The drive was led by Ms. Babila Rakwal (JKAS), Commissioner Secretary, Cooperatives, JKUT and Mr. Arvinder Singh Reen, Director Agriculture, Jammu.
Farmer representatives from leading cooperative societies such as Vijaypur Fruits Agro and Vegetables Producers Cooperative Ltd, Ghagwal Oilseed and Agro Producers Cooperative Ltd, Baba Jitto Basmati Producers Cooperative Ltd, Kaushal Jammu Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd, Bishnah Border Basmati Producers Cooperative Ltd, and Atmanirbhar Nari Mushroom and Agro Producers Cooperative Ltd participated and expressed appreciation for the initiative.
The event marked a significant step towards bridging the digital divide, enhancing rural livelihood resilience, and fostering women-led development in the agri-allied sector of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prominent among those who were present included Ruchika Gupta Immediate Past Chairperson, Sona Mehta Treasurer, Nandita Bajaj Secretary, Purnima Chowdhary and Minu Chawla.
