Multiple theft cases cracked by Jammu police, arrests 13 accused, recovers stolen property worth over Rs 27 lakh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 3: In a significant breakthrough, Jammu Police South Zone, under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu and the leadership of SP City South, SDPO City South and SHO PS Gandhi Nagar has successfully cracked 06 theft cases including 02 Snatching cases and 01 theft case of vital BSNL telecom infrastructure through the tireless efforts of Police Station Gandhi Nagar and Police Post Digiana within a time period of two and a half months, leading to the arrest of 13 accused, including one minor, and the recovery of stolen property worth more than ?27 lakh. Chain Snatching, Motorcycle Theft, and Construction Material Theft Written complaints were received at Police Station Gandhi Nagar regarding multiple incidents in Shastri Nagar and Gandhi Nagar areas, including chain snatching, motorcycle theft, and theft of construction material. Following FIRs were registered: FIR No. 103/2025 U/S 304 BNS - Chain Snatching FIR No. 126/2025 U/S 304 BNS - Chain Snatching FIR No. 142/2025 U/S 303(2) BNS - Motorcycle Theft FIR No. 143/2025 U/S 303(2) BNS - Theft of Construction Material Acting promptly, a special team was constituted by SP City South, led by PSI Maan Singh under the close supervision of SHO PS Gandhi Nagar and SDPO City South. CCTV footage and Smart City surveillance were analyzed to identify and apprehend the culprits. Yusaf, R/O Miran Sahib Involved in FIR 142/2025 (Motorcycle Theft) Recovered: Stolen Motorcycle (JK02CE-7803) Fazal Hussain S/O Sobat Ali, R/O Near Hospital, Jammu Chandan Kumar S/O Suresh Kumar, R/O Bihar, A/P Greater Kailash Involved in FIR 143/2025 (Construction Material Theft) Recovered: Stolen construction items, suspected stolen scooty (JK02DC-5835) BSNL Infrastructure Theft - 5 Arrested In a separate case, FIR No. 145/2025 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered regarding the theft of BSNL telecom infrastructure near the back gate of DPL Jammu. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended five women, all residents of Pati Road, Barnala, Punjab: Banti W/O Lutera Sapni W/O Ashok Babli W/O Garibdas Rajani W/O Sanjay Salochana W/O Jarnail Singh Recovered: 8-10 kg stolen copper wire Further recovery is expected as the investigation continues. High-Value House Theft - Jewellery Worth ?21 Lakh Recovered In a major success, Police Post Digiana solved a high-profile house theft case within days of reporting. On 09.05.2025, complainant Gurjeet Kour W/O Late Gurjeet Singh, R/O Preet Nagar, Jammu, reported theft of gold and diamond jewellery from her home during the intervening night of 7th/8th May. FIR No. 113/2025 U/S 331(2), 331(4), and 305 BNS was registered at PS Gandhi Nagar. A dedicated team led by ICPP Digiana, under supervision of SDPO City South and SHO P/S Gandhi Nagar, cracked the case through technical surveillance and human intelligence. Arrested Accused: Safar Ansari (23) S/O Sajjad, R/O Kishanganj, Bihar, A/P Gangyal Ibrahim (25) S/O Sharif, R/O Behraich, U.P., A/P KC Colony, Gangyal [Name Withheld - Minor] Recovered Items (Jewellery worth ?21 lakh): Gold Choker Set - 01 Gold Kitty Sets - 02 Gold Locket Set - 01 Ladies' Gold Kada - 02 Gold Bangles - 04 Diamond Ear Tops - 01 Pair Gold Earrings - 04 Nos Gold & Diamond Rings - 08 (Ladies' & Gents') The investigation is ongoing and further recoveries cannot be ruled out.
