MLA Dr. Rameshwar initiates first-ever Hari Prayag Khumb Mela at Bani | | | Early Times Report BANI, July 8: In a historic and spiritually significant development, MLA Bani Dr. Rameshwar Singh formally inaugurated the first-ever Hari Prayag Khumb Mela at Sarthali, a sacred confluence point in Bani where the Khad and Seva rivers meet. The event, rooted in ancient tradition and mentioned in both the Panchang and the Vedas, marks a new chapter in the religious and cultural landscape of the region. The auspicious day, falling on 6th July, aligns with a rare Yog known as the Mams of Hari Prayag Khumb, recognized by spiritual scholars and seers. Thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and neighboring states gathered to take part in this divine occasion. Morning and evening Aartis were performed with great devotion at the Sangam, and a mass holy dip (Shahi Snan) was observed as per ritualistic tradition, believed to wash away sins and bring spiritual upliftment. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rameshwar Singh expressed pride in bringing this ancient tradition to life and emphasized the need to preserve and promote the spiritual heritage of Bani. "This sacred land, mentioned in our scriptures, is now being recognized for its religious significance. It is my vision to make Bani a prominent destination for pilgrimage and spiritual tourism," he said. The initiative has been welcomed by local residents and religious bodies, who see it as a step toward reviving forgotten traditions and boosting the cultural identity of the region. The event concluded with community prayers and offerings at the riverbank, with arrangements in place for the safety and comfort of pilgrims by the local administration. |
