Illegal pony operator booked & temple theft case solved in Katra

REASI, July 10: District Police Reasi continues its commitment towards maintaining law and order and upholding the sanctity of religious places. In two separate incidents today, the Police Station Katra acted promptly and effectively.
Unauthorized pony operator booked on SMVD track
At around 1800 hours during routine patrolling on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track, one individual coming from Sameer Point towards Banganga along with a pony was stopped for questioning. He identified himself as Abdul Wahid S/O Mohd Bashir R/O Narla, Tehsil Khwaas, District Rajouri.
Upon verification, he failed to produce any authorized registered service card required for operating as a Pony operator on the SMVD track, as mandated by SDM Katra Notification. The individual confessed to working without proper authorization, assuming he would go unchecked.
Accordingly, Case FIR No. 196/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at P/S Katra. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Temple donation box theft case solved within hours
In a separate incident earlier on the same day, Police Station Katra received information regarding theft at Shiv Temple, Chamba (Katra) where unknown persons had broken open the donation box and stolen money from it.
Taking swift cognizance, a case FIR No. 194/2025 U/S 331(4)/305(a) BNS was registered and a team was immediately deployed to investigate. Using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, police successfully identified and apprehended two suspects Ajay Singh S/O Shankar Singh and Imran Mohd S/O Mohd Qasim both residents of Chandwa, Chamba, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
Upon sustained questioning, both accused confessed to their involvement in the theft, and a recovery of ?13,200/- was made from them within a few hours. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
Both operations were conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS.
While sharing the details, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterated that District Police Reasi remains vigilant and committed to protecting public interests and ensuring security along religious tracks and establishments.
