Jammu, July 16 : JKPCC expresses gratitude to congress high command for raising the most delayed, genuine and popular demand of people of Jammu and Kashmir and decided to intensify the struggle for statehood during the forthcoming session of Parliament starting from July 21st .
In an extraordinary meeting of Senior PCC leaders at PCC HQ Jammu, today under the chairmanship of PCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, the party expressed gratitude to the party President and LOP in Rajya Sabha Shri Malikarjun Kharge and LOP in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi for writing to the Prime Minister for bringing a bill in the forthcoming session of parliament to restore the promised statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The PCC expressed gratitude to the party leadership for raising the most dear and genuine demand of people of Jammu and Kashmir for statehood.
The meeting said that the Congress high command has taken up the call at a very important juncture, when parliament session is starting on July 21st and the Centre Govt. should bring a bill in this regard at the earliest, as promised on the floor of the house, before the Supreme Court and in public rallies, as reminded in the joint letter by both the LOPs to the Prime Minister.
The PCC charged the Modi Govt. of denying the people of J&K, the most genuine and basic right of people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding statehood. It is most unfortunate and dictatorial attitude of the BJP Govt. towards people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party decided to intensify the statehood movement by holding a strong protest demonstration against Centre Govt. and BJP in Srinagar, Jammu, followed by Delhi Chalo call for parliament gherao.
Prominent those present include Working President Raman Bhalla, Former Minister Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, Ex-MLC I/C HQ Ved Mahajan, Treasurer Rajnish Sharma, Former Minister Raman Mattoo, Chairman Seva Dal Vijay Sharma and others.
