Jammu, July 22: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Jammu, facilitated an insightful educational visit for the B.Ed. students of Sacred Heart College of Education, Paloura (University of Jammu) today, under the able guidance of worthy Joint Director, SCERT Jammu, Prof. (Dr)Sindhu Kapoor, aimed at enhancing their understanding of contemporary educational reforms, pedagogical innovations, and policy frameworks.
A major highlight of the day was a special lecture delivered by Dr. Sukhvinder, Associate Professor, Department of Curriculum Development and Studies (CDS), NCERT, New Delhi. While addressing the students, Dr. Sukhvinder shared deep insights into curriculum design, NEP 2020 reforms, and the integration of innovative pedagogies in teacher education. He also emphasized the importance of critical thinking, learner-centric approaches, and the role of teachers as nation builders in the context of 21st-century education and also elaborated on NCERT’s initiatives aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including curriculum restructuring, foundational literacy and numeracy, and digital integration in teaching-learning processes.
The session commenced with a formal welcome address by Ms. Arti Gupta, Assistant Professor, who expressed her gratitude to Dr. Sukhvinder for enriching the academic environment with his expertise and emphasized the importance of such interactions in shaping the professional outlook of budding teachers.
Following the thought-provoking and interactive lecture, Mr. Rajinder Singh,
Associate Professor, presented a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging Dr. Sukhvinder’s valuable insights and his contribution to the academic growth of the visiting students and professional understanding of the faculty of SCERT Jammu.
The visit also included a guided tour of various SCERT departments, offering students first-hand exposure to its core functions in Curriculum Development, Educational Research, Teacher Training, and monitoring of Educational Programs. Officials and experts briefed the students on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the state level, with a focus on digital integration, foundational literacy, and holistic learning.
