Jammu, July 22: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched a dedicated web portal to streamline and enhance support for families affected by terrorism across Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative follows his recent distribution of appointment letters to 40 terror victim families in Baramulla on July 13, fulfilling a promise made during an interaction with affected families in Anantnag on June 29. During the Anantnag meeting on June 29, LG Sinha assured eligible next of kin (NoKs) of terror victims that they would receive government jobs within 30 days. True to his commitment, within 15 days, he handed over appointment letters to 40 families in Baramulla, marking a significant step toward delivering long-overdue justice. Furthermore, on the initiatives of the Lieutenant Governor, all 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir have established dedicated helplines to support families of terror victims. The move aims to provide structured institutional support to those whose loved ones were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, ensuring their grievances are heard and the culprits are brought to justice. Today’s newly launched web portal, developed by the Home Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), serves as a centralized platform to support terrorism-affected families across the Union Territory. It aims to collect and maintain comprehensive, district-wise data on terror-affected families, record details of encroachments on victims’ or NoKs’ properties, streamline the delivery of financial relief, ex-gratia compensation, and compassionate employment, and eliminate fraudulent or duplicate claims to ensure timely support for legitimate cases. “This portal will expedite relief, compassionate appointments, and other assistance for those who have suffered due to terrorism,” said LG Sinha. “Our administration is committed to ensuring that every eligible family receives the justice, employment, and support they deserve.” To enhance accessibility, toll-free helplines have been established at the Divisional Commissioners’ offices in Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777). These helplines, managed through dedicated control rooms, allow families to register grievances or pending claims related to compensation, ex-gratia relief, or employment. Trained personnel ensure all claims are recorded and addressed promptly via the centralized platform. For ongoing oversight, Special Monitoring Cells have been set up under the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. These cells will review case statuses, identify delays, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely and fair resolutions. Reaffirming his commitment, LG Sinha stated, “For decades, terror victim families suffered in silence, their stories suppressed. No one came to wipe their tears. We are bringing their truth to light and ensuring justice for those affected by Pakistan-backed terrorism.” The Lieutenant Governor is personally overseeing the redressal process, with a pledge to continue until every eligible family is rehabilitated. This initiative marks a transformative step toward restoring dignity and support for terror-affected families across Jammu and Kashmir. |
