Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 22: Traffic Police City Jammu has issued a Public Notice requiring the Owners/Operators of E-Rickshaws, E-Autos and E-Carts in District Jammu to ply their Vehicles only on the notified routes and stay short of National/State Highways. An order in this regard had already been issued by DC Jammu/Chairman RTA in September-2022 which forms the basis of this Public Notice.
Briefly stated, there are 85 routes earmarked for E-Rickshaws, E-Autos and E-Carts in District Jammu ranging from 2.5 Kms to 5 Kms which have been worked out to provide last mile connectivity to the people. However, there are 15 stretches of National/State Highways which are prohibited for the use by E-Rickshaws, E-Autos and E-Carts. A series of meetings were held in this regard by SSP Traffic City Jammu with various Transporters' Unions as well as DC/RTO Jammu before issuing the Notice. Large Signboards sensitizing the people on the subject have also been erected at prime locations in District Jammu by the Regional Transport Authority.
Strict action shall be taken against the violators in the days to come. The Notice has been shared with Electronic and Print media for wide publicity and is also available on Traffic Police City Jammu's social media handles.
