Jammu, July 25: Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (NGO), in collaboration with Talla Jewellers and NSS Unit of Government College for Women, Parade, successfully conducted a One-Day Workshop on Gender Sensitization under the flagship initiative Project RISE – “Respecting Identities Supporting Equality” on 23rd July 2025 at Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, Jammu. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about gender sensitivity, challenge deep-rooted stereotypes, and foster inclusive thinking among youth. The session was graced by Dr. Hema Gandotra, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, as the resource person, whose engaging and insightful lecture set the tone for the day’s discussions. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 70 students and NSS volunteers from Government College of Education (GCOE), Canal Road, P.S.P.S. GCW Gandhi Nagar, GGM Science College, and GCW Parade. Their presence marked a collaborative effort toward spreading awareness and promoting gender equity across institutions. Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS Programme Officer of GCW Parade, played a key role in organizing and facilitating the event. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized the importance of engaging youth in conversations about gender equality and social responsibility. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Hema Gandotra said, “Gender sensitization begins with awareness. When we educate young minds about equality, we shape a better, fairer tomorrow.” In his remarks, Mr. Vivek Parihar, CEO and Director of Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation, stated, “Project RISE is our effort to spark meaningful change in society. Through initiatives like this, we aim to create informed, compassionate, and responsible citizens.” The workshop concluded with an open discussion where students shared thoughts and perspectives, followed by a collective pledge by all participants to uphold and advocate for gender sensitivity and equality in their communities. |
