ESIC launches SPREE Scheme 2025 to Expand Social Security Coverage | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, July 25: In a major step towards enhancing social security for workers across the country, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched the SPREE Scheme 2025. The scheme, which stands for Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees, will remain in effect from July 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. According to Dushyant Pandey, Regional Director In-Charge of ESIC for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, the scheme is designed to bring unregistered employers and contract/temporary workers under the ESIC umbrella without fear of penalties or inspections. Under SPREE 2025, employers can register their establishments and employees through the ESI portal, Shram Suvidha portal, or the MCA portal without facing any inspection or demand for past dues. The date of registration will be considered as the valid date of entry into the scheme, and no contribution or benefits will be applicable for the period before registration. Furthermore, no inspections or documentation will be required for the pre-registration period. The objective of SPREE 2025 is to encourage voluntary registration and eliminate apprehensions regarding penalties, past liabilities, and legal consequences. This move will allow previously excluded establishments and workers to easily access the health and social security benefits provided under the ESI Act.
