Udhampur, July 26: Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta today celebrated the Valedictory Function of its Summer Internship Program, marking the successful conclusion of an enriching academic initiative undertaken in collaboration with Amar Ujala (Journalism) and the Department of Social Welfare, Udhampur (Community Development). The event was graced by Sh. Ranbir Singh Pathania, Hon’ble MLA, Udhampur East, as the Chief Guest, and Sh. Neeraj Kesar, Bureau Chief, Amar Ujala, Udhampur, as the Guest of Honour. The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge, followed by a warm bouquet presentation to the distinguished guests. Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma, Principal of the college, formally welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the achievements of the institution, especially in skill development and student engagement through internships. She commended the efforts of faculty and student interns for making the program impactful and community-oriented. Students from various departments enthusiastically shared their experiences and learning outcomes from the internship, reflecting on their exposure to real-world challenges in journalism and social work. Their presentations showcased the transformative potential of hands-on training in shaping socially responsible professionals. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Sh. Ranbir Singh Pathania lauded the vibrant academic culture and community outreach of GDC Majalta. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in aligning higher education with grassroots realities and distributed certificates of completion to the participating students. The proceedings of the day were gracefully conducted by Prof. Anuradha, Assistant Professor of Education. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr Chander Mohan Head, Department of English who expressed gratitude to all guests, collaborators, faculty members, and students for making the event a grand success.
