JAMMU, July 29: To celebrate the Shravan month & to promote the traditional folk cultural of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organizes Bhajan Sandhya on the eve of Nag Panchami at Shiv Temple, Shant Nagar Jammu in collaboration Sangam Tru Art Production. The function was inaugurated after lighting the by the Chief Guest Mukesh Sharma , Head Pujari, Shiv Temple Jammu, along with V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, K.K. Joshi, Vice Chairman BLSKS, Dr.Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department, J&K Government, J.K. Raina, Freelancer Producer Director were the Guests of Honor. The programme commenced with welcome song "Koun Kare Tere Arti Bhola Ji", "Shiv nath Teri Mahima", "Maiaya He Maiya he Maiya ", "Bhola ko kaise mai manau re mera bhola na maane", Veena Vadani Veena Vadani". Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest said the importance of the festival Shravan, also known as Sawan, is a month in the Hindu calendar dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it's a time for special prayers, rituals, and festivals. It typically falls between July and August. In 2025, Shravan begins on July 11 in North India. The month is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva, with many observing fasts on Mondays, known as Shravan Somwar. Popular rituals include offering Bel Patra, milk, and water to the Shivling, chanting mantras, and participating in the Kanwar Yatra & also Lauded the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan -(NGO) for underlining the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the state in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils through Musical Play / Theatre / Drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. The songs written, produced and directed by Dr. M.L.Dogra & the music was assisted by M C Kotwal . The programe was recorded and uploaded on the social media to aware the masses.
Welcoming the dignitaries Dr. M.L.Dogra, chairman BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme and said this year, Nag Panchami , July 29 marks the celebration of the auspicious festival Nag Panchami. Hindu devotees worship Nag Devta on this day and seek blessings. Shukla Paksha Panchami during the month of Sawan is marked as Nag Panchami. I wish you all the joy, peace, and happiness of this world. On this festival of Nag Panchami, let us pray to lord Shiva to remove all obstacles from our lives and guide us on the right path. May lord shiva protect you and your family from evil. is a significant day during the Sawan month, as it falls on the third Tuesday of Sawan, marking the Third Mangala Gauri Vrat. Additionally, it is also the day of Nag Panchami, a festival dedicated to the worship of serpent deities.
K.K. Joshi, Vice chairman - BLSKS said my greetings on the auspicious occasion of this festival involves worshipping serpent deities, often by offering milk to snakes and praying for the well-being of family members. It is believed that worshipping snakes on this day can protect against venomous harm and bring spiritual and material growth. The singers, musician ,actors and students of Music and Computer institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Handoo, Sh.M.C. Kotwal, Rajni Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar, Bindia Okheda, Zulekha Bano, Poly Devi, and many others presented the enthralled performance. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
