Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Aug 1: As part of the ongoing celebrations for the 79th Independence Day of India, Government Degree College (GDC), Vijaypur, organized an intra-college National Anthem Singing Competition on August 1, 2025, in the college campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, all united in patriotic spirit and musical harmony. The competition was held under the supervision of the Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht led by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology), who inaugurated the event with an inspiring address on the importance of national unity and the role of youth in preserving India's democratic values. Further, he emphasized the significance of such events in fostering national pride and building a strong, united identity among students. "The National Anthem is more than a song-it is a symbol of our shared history and commitment to the nation's ideals," he stated. Participants rendered the national anthem with passion, discipline, and respect, showcasing vocal talent and a deep sense of patriotism. A panel of judges, comprising Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), evaluated the performances based on melody, coordination, pronunciation, and overall presentation. Winners of the competition were felicitated with certificates. The first prize was awarded to Chandan Kohli of sem.V, second to Kavya Thakyal of sem.III and third to Kartik Dogra of sem.I.
