Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: A comprehensive Zonal Crime Review Meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, at the Conference Hall of Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ), Jammu. The meeting was convened to assess law enforcement performance, review crime trends, and evaluate legal and operational compliance across all districts of the Zone. DIsG of Rajouri-Poonch, Udhampur-Reasi, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban, and Jammu-Samba-Kathua Ranges attended the meeting in person, along with the SSsP of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, and SP (Operations) Jammu. The SSsP of Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, and Kishtwar participated via video conferencing. Each District SSP delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the performance of their jurisdiction, addressing all agenda points circulated prior to the meeting. The meeting began with a review of the Action Taken Report on the last zonal crime meeting held on 22nd March 2023. A zone-wide comparative analysis of crime registration and disposal statements for the first half of 2025 was presented, alongside emerging crime patterns and hotspot identification. Deliberations also focused on resource allocation and the responsiveness of district police units. A key item on the agenda was the review of old pending murder cases and inquest proceedings, particularly those pending as of 31st December 2024. Officers were directed to furnish reasons for delay and initiate steps for speedy investigation and judicial follow-up. Instructions were also issued to prioritize these cases and strengthen inter-agency coordination wherever needed. Pending cases under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) were thoroughly reviewed. The IGP examined the progress in investigation, prosecution sanction status, and follow-through on decisions made during the recent NCORD meeting.
