BLSKS presents awareness program on drug abuse

JAMMU, Aug 6: To promote the Traditional Duggar Culture of J&K , Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan presented mega cultural awareness Drug abuse program in collaboration with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Social Welfare Deptt. J&K Govt. at Diamond Public School, Bajalta Jammu. The Program was inaugurated by Joginder Singh, Principal of the school, Aksh Dev Singh, Jogi Singh, Senior Teachers of the host school were the guest of honor. The songs presented were written and Directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra, Former Assistant Director of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Government of India. A pledge was also administered by Usha Raina to more than 150 students / teachers and the certificate by the Ministry of Social Justice was presented to the Principal of the Host School. The programme was commenced with song of "Nasha Na Karna - Man Lo Kehna", "Mera Karma Tu Mera Dharma Tu", "Swatchta Hi Sewa Hai", "Mera Karma Tu", "Dudh Maa Ka Hi Pilao", "Loka Kadu Chuk Goriye" & dances also presented songs sung by the renowned artists of BLSKS & music of the play composed by M. C. Kotwal, Music Director, BLSKS. In addition to the above skits on theme were staged along with two others programs at various Blocks & Villages of Jammu Distt. in & around Surinsar during this month. The musical play, dances and skits presented were highly appreciated by the audience and dignitaries. The Chief Guest said the drug addiction has become a complex problem of the society, which is getting deeper day by day. It not only ruins the life of an individual but also has a profound effect on the family and society. Addiction, whether it is alcohol, cigarette, drugs, or digital addiction, ruins the physical, mental and emotional health of a person. This problem can be seen in every section of the society, whether it is rural area or urban. The Songs on the said theme were also presented and upload online on Social Media for benefit of the people.
Welcome speech was given by Dr.M.L. Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan said drug de-addiction is a serious and necessary challenge of the society, which not only has a profound effect on the health of the individual but also on his family and economic life. Drug addiction makes a person mentally weak and isolates him from the society. Due to this, serious health crises like mouth cancer, liver failure, lung and heart related diseases can arise. Education, awareness and proper guidance are extremely necessary for de-addiction. Accepting this very big challenge of the country, today we unite under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and take a pledge that not only the community, family, friends, but also ourselves will be drug free because change should start with ourselves. Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan, reduce the drugs withdrawal symptoms are a combination of physical and mental side effects a person experiences while trying to either stop or reduce the use of the substance they have been using or are addicted to. These are usually unpleasant experiences which make it difficult to reduce or quit the substance. Some of the common withdrawal symptoms are nausea, vomiting, restlessness, tremors, disturbance in mood , lack of sleep, body pains, craving for the substance, running nose etc. Withdrawal symptoms can vary from person to person. The intensity and duration of the withdrawal symptoms depends on many factors like the genetic/biological makeup of the person, the type and time of drug abused, the age and psychological characteristics of the person.
K.K.Joshi, Vice Chairman - BLSKS said the problem of drug addiction has become a serious social and health issue affecting millions of people all over the world, especially the youth. This problem not only destroys individual lives but also has a bad effect on society and families. Addiction habits include the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, drugs (heroin, cocaine, cannabis, etc.) and other harmful substances. All the renowned artistes and students took a solemn pledge on the occasion to eradicate social evils & to foster National unity. The singers, musician, actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical concert were Usha Raina, Zulekha Bano, Rajni Gupta , Sanjeev Kumar , Bindia Okheda, Balwinder Kumar and many others presented the enthralled performance at last of the programe Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
