In a major breakthrough against organized crime, Miran Sahib Police have arrested a B.Tech student of the Central University of Jammu for allegedly supplying illegal weapons to gangsters operating across Jammu province. The accused, identified as Kaif Ahmed, son of Shami Ahmed, hails from Barharian near Masjid, Siwan district of Bihar, a region known for its criminal networks. He was arrested on Monday and is believed to be the main supplier of arms to criminal gangs active in the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts. According to sources, Kaif Ahmed, despite being enrolled in a prestigious university, was operating as a key conduit for the illegal arms trade. His arrest follows an investigation into a firing incident during a private function at Swaran Palace in the Miran Sahib area on February 23, 2025. Subsequently, under the leadership of SHO Inspector Jai Pal Sharma, SI Ajesh Singh Jamwal, and the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu, further arrests were made. Among those apprehended was Balwinder Singh alias Goru Jatt, son of Swarn Singh, a resident of Ranjri, Vijaypur, Samba, from whom one pistol and live cartridges were recovered. Based on sustained efforts and actionable leads, police finally nabbed the interstate arms smuggler Kaif Ahmed, who has since been confirmed as the primary arms supplier to multiple gangs operating across the region. The investigation is ongoing, and police have indicated that more arrests and recoveries are expected in the coming days as they continue to dismantle the broader network. |
