Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Department of Political Science in collaboration with DSW of Govt. College for Women(GCW), Udhampur, organized a Painting-Competition on the Theme, "PORTRAIT OF UNSUNG HEROES OF INDEPENDENT INDIA", in the backdrop of 79TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS 2025, under the aegis of IQAC in the college campus here today. The programme began with the formal welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD, Political Science/DSW of the college. Principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania congratulated the Department of Political Science for organizing such an inspiring event. She exhorted upon the importance of knowing the unsung heroes of the Indian Independence to the Indian Youth so that they may become responsible citizens in future by getting inspiration from our heroes. The purpose of the Painting-Competition was to acquaint the students with the life stories of those individuals who have made significant contributions or performed heroic role in the Indian Independence but who have not received the recognition or praise they deserve and their efforts often go unnoticed or not wisely celebrated. All participants took part in the event in an enthusiastic manner. DSW and HOD of Political Science also motivated the participants by appreciating their efforts and for showing their skills in portraying our heroes of Indian independence. She hoped that students will be inspired enough to participate in coming events like this in future also. Total 15 students of sem. 3rd and 5th participated in the event. Miss Rashika Devi stood first in the competition, Miss Prashi Devi fetched 2nd position, Miss Sumiya Choudhary secured 3rd position and Miss Anshika stood 4th in the event. Dr. Swati Dut, HOD Sociology, Prof. Shama Rani, Asstt. Prof. Dogri, Prof. Pooja Bharti, HOD Geography were the three jury members on the occasion. They adjudicated the event in an efficient manner. Names of the winners were announced and Certificates were distributed amongst the winners. The Programme was organized and concluded with the vote of thanks by Professor Swarna Devi, HOD Political Science. |
