Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: AIIMS Jammu had the honour of hosting Brigadier Aniket Deo, a decorated officer of the Indian Army, for an insightful and inspiring session on 'Operation Sindoor'-a landmark military mission marked by extraordinary courage, precision, and sacrifice. The lecture drew a large gathering of faculty members, nursing officers, staff, and students, who listened with deep respect as Brigadier Deo offered a detailed first-hand account of the operation. He shed light on the strategic complexities, ground realities, and the indomitable spirit displayed by the soldiers in the face of grave danger. His presentation not only informed but stirred profound admiration among the audience for the Indian Army's valour and commitment. Following the address, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, felicitated Brigadier Deo for his leadership and lauded the Indian Army for their valor and service. He stated, "Operation Sindoor was not just a military response-it was a call for united national effort. AIIMS Jammu stood ready, as always, to serve with strength, solidarity, and speed." Demonstrating this commitment, AIIMS Jammu significantly scaled up its emergency preparedness in response to the evolving situation during op sindoor. The institute swiftly enhanced its hospital capacity from 250 to 400 beds, with 150 beds dedicated to operational casualties. Elective surgeries were temporarily suspended to prioritize trauma care, while six operation theatres remained fully functional around the clock. As part of its proactive preparedness efforts, specialized training sessions were conducted in BHISHM Cube deployment and emergency response protocols. These sessions were attended by medical and security personnel from GMC Jammu, district hospitals, and Community Health Centres (CHCs) across the region, ensuring a well-integrated and responsive healthcare support system. In a remarkable gesture of solidarity and respect, a cheque of Rs 1,21,000 was presented to the Chairperson, Army Welfare Organisation. The amount, voluntarily contributed by the Nursing officers of AIIMS Jammu, was handed over by Dr. Rimple Sharma, Principal College of Nursing, AIIMS Jammu. This event reflects AIIMS Jammu's unwavering dedication to nurturing a sense of patriotism, and national service among healthcare professionals. Through such meaningful engagements, AIIMS Jammu not only contributes to nation-building but also reaffirms its commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with India's protectors. |
