JAMMU, Aug 14: On the eve of Independence Day, senior BJP leader and former vice president Balbir Ram Rattan emphasized the deep significance of the Indian National Flag, stating that the Tricolour is not merely a piece of cloth, but a symbol of the nation's pride, unity, and sacrifice.
He was discussing the flag hoisting programmes being organized by the party at various levels in the Union Territory along with BJP media in-charge Dr. Pradeep Mahotra.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that everyone should understand the profound meaning of the Tricolour and show it the utmost respect. He said, "The Tricolour is not just a flag-it is the soul of our nation." It reminds us of the freedom struggle, the countless sacrifices made by our forefathers, and our responsibilities as proud citizens of India.
Balbir stressed that the flag is a vibrant representation of India's history, diversity, and democratic values. When we hoist the Tricolour, we not only express our patriotism but also reaffirm our commitment to uphold the ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
He specifically urged the youth to take pride in the national flag, understand its significance, and never allow its value to be diminished in any way.
He added that the flag should inspire us to work towards a strong, united, and self-reliant India.
Dr. Pradeep Mahotra also shared his sentiments, saying that the Tricolour acts as a unifying force across regional, linguistic, and cultural barriers.
He stated that the national flag is not merely a symbol to be displayed on special occasions, but a daily reminder of our shared identity, values, and duties as Indian citizens.
BJP Kisan Morcha President Rakesh Pant said that it is essential for all of us to always stand for the honour of our national flag and educate others abouti its importance.
