Police foils narcotics smuggling bid, seizes heroin; illegal mining material confiscated 8/16/2025 11:03:11 PM Early Times Report REASI, Aug 16: District Police Reasi achieved a major success in its fight against narcotics smuggling and illegal mining activities. At about 2000 hrs, during routine vehicle checking at Sool Naka, a black colour Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration No. JK02BD-5905, coming from Manthal side towards Katra, was intercepted. The motorcycle was being ridden by two persons who, upon being stopped, appeared suspicious and scared. The rider disclosed his identity as Mohd. Younas S/o Sultan Mohd R/o Badsoo, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu, Age 32 years, while the pillion rider was identified as Yakeen Ali S/o Sultan Mohd R/o Badsoo, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu. On frisking, a transparent polypack containing heroin-like substance weighing 5.530 grams (including packing material) was recovered from the right front pocket of jeans worn by Mohd. Younas. Upon questioning, both individuals failed to provide any satisfactory response regarding the possession of the narcotic substance. In this regard, a case FIR No. 237/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway. In a separate action against illegal mining, two dumpers bearing registration numbers JK19A-1737 and JK19-1737, loaded with bajri (mining material), were seized by Police Post Kakryal. The concerned District Mineral Officer (DMO) has been informed for necessary action. All the operations were conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS.
