Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 16: Dr. Ritu Singh has issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to extend solidarity and support to the victims of the devastating cloudburst that struck Chashoti village in Paddar, Kishtwar district on August 14, 2025. The calamity unleashed flash floods along the Machail Mata Yatra route, leaving widespread destruction in its wake. The tragedy has claimed over 65 lives, injured hundreds, and left many missing, while homes, fields, and livelihoods were swept away in moments. In a press statement issued here today, Dr. Ritu Singh expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and lauded the heroic efforts of the Army, NDRF, SDRF, police, and volunteers, who continue to work round the clock in rescue and relief operations. She also praised the government administration for coordinating aid with urgency and appreciated the dedication of doctors, nurses, and hospital staff, who are providing life-saving treatment with compassion. "Government action alone cannot heal this wound. I make a heartfelt appeal to all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir-let us rise as one family. Every home, every Mohalla, every community must come forward. Hot meals, rations, medicines, shelter, financial aid, and words of comfort-each of these contributions will become a lifeline for the people of Chashoti," she urged. Reiterating her personal commitment, Dr. Ritu Singh pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder with relief workers, distributing aid and comforting families in their hour of grief. She called upon people from all walks of life to unite in this moment of sorrow and help restore hope, dignity, and livelihoods for the affected families. "Together, with compassion in our hearts and unity in our actions, we can rebuild Chashoti and carry hope to where despair now lingers," she said. |
