Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Aug 20: In a significant step towards empowering women in the border areas of Rajouri, the Indian Army under the Operation Sadhbhavana project, is conducting the "Sewing Sisterhood" Tailoring Cadre for Women. This initiative aims to foster skill development and self-reliance by equipping women with tailoring skills, enabling them to generate income and support their families. The tailoring cadre, led by skilled artisans, offers practical training in various tailoring styles, enhancing the participants' creative abilities. Women from the region have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to learn and showcase their artistic talents. All 20 participants will receive National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) certificates and tailoring kits to support their future endeavours. This comprehensive five-week training not only imparts valuable skills but also boosts the confidence of local women, empowering them to envision a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Commencing on 20 August 2025, the initiative has seen active participation from 20 local women, with all raw materials and instructors provided by the Indian Army. Through this endeavour, the Indian Army reinforces its commitment to empowering the residents of far-flung villages, uplifting lives and promoting women's empowerment in the region.
