People aghast over non supply water, leakages in Buildings at Jagti colony | | | Early Times Report
Nagrota, Aug 20: Resentment is growing among the people of Jagti due to the ongoing water crisis in Jagti Camp. The water supply disrupts for days, particularly during the scorching heat, causing severe difficulties for residents. The lack of water and electricity has made it challenging for families to perform last rites for deceased loved ones. The residents have alleged that the relief authorities have shown a callous and discriminatory attitude towards Kashmiri Pandits, adding to their miseries. Despite spending lakhs of rupees on water supply and maintenance, the supply remains disrupted for weeks. No alternative arrangements were made by authorities during important occasions like Shravan Purnima and Shri Krishna Janmashtmi. Some residents are forced to rely on private water tankers, while others, including old and ailing people, are collecting water from outside sources. The residents have criticized the authorities for their Callous approach and Being insensitive towards the Kashmiri Pandits. Which shows the discriminatory attitude and neglect towards the community. The people of Jagti have been demanding for the Construction of borewells in Jagti Camp to solve the water crisis. The meeting also demanded enquiry to investigate the mismanagement of officials involved. The residents have warned that if the water supply is not restored within 24 hours, they will block the National Highway. The situation demands immediate attention from authorities to resolve the crisis and address the concerns of the residents. Prominent residents, including Sunil Pandita, Ramesh Kumar, Sunil Raina Sanjay Raina Anil Kumar and others have urged the Chief Secretary and Relief Commissioner to take immediate action. Meanwhile People have alleged that their Buildings have developed leakages and families who live on upper floors witness water leakages in ceilings and room walls constantly. They urged the authorities to carry out necessary repairs in rooftops before it something unfortunate will happen to inmates. |
