Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 28: Celebrating 11 years of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Vice President of BJP Jammu & Kashmir, Rekha Mahajan, lauded the flagship scheme as a revolutionary step in India's journey from financial inclusion to financial dignity. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PMJDY has played a transformative role in connecting every household to the formal banking system, ensuring access to credit, insurance, and pension facilities. Rekha Mahajan highlighted that the scheme now boasts over 56 crore accounts, with more than 56% held by women and two out of every three accounts opened in rural and semi-urban areas. "PMJDY has empowered women financially, enhanced transparency in government transfers, and eliminated middlemen, enabling direct benefit delivery to citizens. It has bridged the gap between urban and rural economies, bringing millions into the financial mainstream," she said. Mahajan emphasized that PMJDY is not merely a banking initiative but a social movement fostering trust, independence, and dignity. "Over the past 11 years, this scheme has given millions of Indians the confidence to save, plan for the future, and access essential financial services. Women, in particular, have emerged as active participants in household and community financial management, strengthening the foundation of inclusive growth," she added. She also noted that PMJDY has been instrumental in ensuring financial preparedness during emergencies and facilitating government welfare schemes directly to beneficiaries' accounts, reducing delays and corruption. Rekha Mahajan urged citizens to actively utilize the benefits of PMJDY, including insurance and pension schemes, and emphasized the need to spread awareness about its advantages. "PMJDY stands as a symbol of financial empowerment, transparency, and progress. Let us celebrate 11 years of trust, empowerment, and financial dignity for every Indian," she concluded. |
