early times report

Jammu, Sept 4: The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu & Kashmir, has once again risen to the occasion by extending timely humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the recent floods in various districts of Jammu under the leadership of Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lt. Governor (President, Indian Red Cross Society) J&K-UT. Demonstrating its commitment towards service and relief, the Society has been actively distributing essential relief materials among the victims to ease their suffering in this critical hour.
As heavy rains and flash floods have severely impacted districts including Samba, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Rajouri leading to loss of property, displacement, and disruption of normal life, the Red Cross volunteers and staff have been working round the clock in coordination with the district administrations to ensure that relief reaches those in dire need.
The relief operations include distribution of tarpaulins to provide temporary shelter and protection from rain, Kitchen sets for maintaining cleanliness and daily survival, blankets for families who lost their belongings, bedding, buckets, and other necessary household items to the affected families. Hundreds of families in these districts have already been provided immediate relief. Special attention is also being given to vulnerable sections such as women, children and elderly.
Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K while briefing about the ongoing relief efforts, stated, “The Red Cross stands committed to serving humanity at all times, and during this flood crisis, our teams are working tirelessly in the worst-affected areas. With the support of our volunteers and the local administration, we are ensuring that no family is left unattended in their hour of distress.” He further appealed to the people to come forward and support the Red Cross by contributing generously, so that more families can be assisted with relief and rehabilitation measures.
The Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, has also assured that if the present weather conditions persist and the flood situation worsens, it will continue to step up its relief measures. More resources and essential supplies will be mobilized to ensure that every affected family receives the necessary assistance. The Society stands prepared to meet future challenges with the same dedication and commitment to humanitarian service.
The Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, has always played a pivotal role in responding to natural disasters, medical emergencies, and humanitarian needs across the UT. During this flood situation, its relentless service in Samba, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, and Kishtwar is once again a testament to the spirit of humanity and compassion.
