Rajouri, Sept 3: Heavy rains have triggered multiple landslides across Rajouri district, severely affecting normal life and posing danger to residential areas. A major landslide struck the Jammu–Rajouri–Poonch National Highway at Kallar in Rajouri, where 2–3 residential houses have been left highly vulnerable to damage and possible collapse. Locals reported that nearly ten feet of land has sunk at a sharp turn, exposing these houses and leaving families terrified Meanwhile, the Teryath–Mougla–Kalakote road has also been blocked today due to continuous rainfall and fresh landslides. Authorities confirmed that rainfall is still continuing in the region. In another incident, a landslide and tree fall occurred on the circular road near Shiv Mandir Rajouri. Police and SDRF teams rushed to the spot and are working to clear the debris and restore movement. Many link roads across the district have also been cut off due to landslides and sinking patches, adding to the hardships of residents. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel until clearance operations are completed. |
