POONCH, Sept 6: Eid Milad-un-Nabi was observed with great religious fervor across district Poonch today. Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma; Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafaket Hussain Bhatt; ADDC Pankaj Magotra, ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik; ASP Mohan Lal, Tehsildar Haveli Azhar Majid; ARTO, Basharat Mehmood along with other district and police officers joined the grand procession and extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion. Thousands of devotees chanting Islamic slogans participated in religious processions taken out at various places in the district. The main procession in Poonch town started from Jamia Masjid and passed through the main market, Parade Chowk, Nakhawali Road before culminating at Eidgah, where a large gathering offered prayers. Similar processions were also held at Mendhar, Mandi and Surankote, where religious preachers and scholars addressed the gatherings, highlighting the noble teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). They emphasized that Islam stands for peace, brotherhood and harmony, calling upon people to uphold unity and strengthen communal amity beyond barriers of caste, creed, religion or region. |
