NEW DELHI, Sept 7: A delegation comprising Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, State President, Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, and State General Secretary, Kunzang Namgyal, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. During the meeting, they held a detailed discussion on Ladakh-specific welfare issues and also requested special financial support for the restoration of infrastructure damaged, Corps losses,food and fodder issues due to the recent unprecedented heavy rainfall. The delegation, on behalf of the people of Ladakh, also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Union Home Minister and the Central Government for the recent recruitment drive directed exclusively for Ladakh. They stated that this measure has fulfilled a long-pending demand of the youth by ensuring opportunities in government services within the Union Territory and this has happened due to the unique domicile provisions extended to Ladakh, which safeguard such opportunities. H’CEC and the delegation also conveyed sincere gratitude for the recent GST reforms, noting that the changes mark a significant step towards simplifying the tax structure and strengthening economic growth in the country. Hon’ble Union Home Minister assured the delegation that the issues discussed would be addressed and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people of Ladakh.
