Poster-making competition held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Sept 10: In order to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Department of Political Science, in collaboration with DSW of Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur, under the able guidance of the principal of the college and under the aegis of IQAC, organised a POSTER-MAKING COMPETITION today on the theme, "MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS OF DR. SHYAMA PRASAD MUKHERJEE" in the college campus.
Principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania, was the chief Guest on the occasion.
Dr. Pathania congratulated the participants and the Department of Political Science for organizing such an inspiring event. She exhorted upon the need of organizing such events to inspire our youth for serving the nation and also to understand the life and personality of great leaders.
Earlier, the programme began with the formal welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD, Political Science/DSW of the college. She also motivated the participants by appreciating their efforts and for showing their skills in portraying our hero in the making of Indian constitution. She hoped that students will be inspired enough to participate in coming events like this in future also.
The purpose of the event was to acquaint the students with the life story of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who have made significant contributions and performed heroic role in the Indian Independence and in the making of the constitution of India.
Total 12 students of semester 1st, 3rd and 5th participated in the event. Miss Manvi Rathore stood first in the competition, Miss Mokshi Sharma fetched 2nd position, and Miss Stuti Sharma secured 3rd position in the event. All participants took part in the event in an enthusiastic manner.
Dr. Swati Dut, HOD Sociology, Prof. Shama Rani, Asstt. Prof. Dogri, and Prof. Pooja Bharti (HOD Geography) were the jury members on the occasion. They adjudicated the event in an efficient manner. Names of the winners were announced and prizes and medals were distributed amongst the winners. Other members who graced the event were Prof. Indu Khajuria (HOD Chemistry), Prof. Anita Sharma (HOD Botany), Prof. Monika Gupta (Chemistry Deptt.), Prof. Mool Raj (HOD Urdu) and Prof. Om Prakash (HOD Sanskrit). The Programme was organized and concluded with the vote of thanks by Professor Swarna Devi, HOD Political Science.
