NSS, Red Ribbon Club organize Valedictory function | | |  early times report
Jammu, Sept 11: NSS unit “Veerangana”, Red Ribbon Club and IQAC of Govt. College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu organized Valedictory Function towards the culmination of Five Day Civil Defence Training Programme. The programme was organized in collaboration with Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu and Directorate of Civil Defence. The Civil Defence Training Programme commenced with an inaugural session where in Sh. Zia- Ul-Haq, Deputy Superintendent of Police was the chief Guest. In his address he apprised students about the need and significance of the course and also highlighted the execution of these skills during the adverse situation. During the sessions, trainers provide training on life saving skills and emergency preparedness. They covered various modules like first aid, rescue operations, fire safety, crowd management, and emergency response. Over the course of the training, participants gained practical skills and theoretical knowledge to act as frontline volunteers during emergencies and disasters. The valedictory function of the Civil Defence Training Programme was held under the patronage of Dr Naveen Anand, Principal of the college marking the successful completion of a comprehensive training course aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and community resilience. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sarita Nair Director, Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu in her valedictory address, she lauded the efforts of the trainees and highlighted the importance of civil defence volunteers in safeguarding lives and property during crises. She urged the participants to spread awareness in their communities and contribute towards building a culture of safety and preparedness. During the function, Many participants also shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn life-saving techniques and the spirit of teamwork instilled during the programme. Dr. Saranjeet Kour and Dr. Disha Sharma, Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu, Sh. Vijay Magotra Deputy Chief Warden, Civil Defence Jammu , also graced the occasion. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Disha Sharma, Centre for women studies, University of Jammu, who appreciated the dedication of the trainers, officials, and participants for making the training programme a success. |
