Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 12: Amidst the devastation caused by the recent torrential rains that have swept across Jammu Division, leaving thousands of families displaced and communities fractured, the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Old Age Home), Ambphalla, Jammu has risen to the occasion with an extraordinary gesture of compassion. At an urgent meeting of the Managing Committee, held under the chairmanship of Shri I.D. Soni, President, members expressed grave concern over the plight of the elderly, who remain the most vulnerable in such disasters. While the floods have impacted every section of society, it is the aged and infirm-without means, support, or shelter-who face the harshest struggles in silence. In a deeply moving moment, the very residents of the Home themselves voiced their solidarity with their less fortunate peers. Their heartfelt words resonated with everyone present: "We are safe and cared for within this Home, yet our hearts go out to the elders outside who have lost everything. In this hour of crisis, we too wish to share what little we can, so that no senior citizen feels abandoned or forgotten." Inspired by this touching appeal, the Managing Committee unanimously resolved to open the Home's doors to all elderly persons rendered homeless by the calamity but are otherwise physically and mentally fit, above 60 years and not addict. The institution has pledged to provide not only food, clothing, and shelter, but also medical care, emotional comfort, and above all, dignity and reassurance during this dark hour. The Committee has further appealed to citizens, social workers, NGOs, and institutions to step forward in identifying such elders and assisting in their rehabilitation. Through this compassionate initiative, the Home for the Aged & Infirm, Ambphalla, Jammu has once again affirmed a timeless truth: that the true strength of a community lies in how it safeguards its most vulnerable. In times of adversity, it is compassion, solidarity, and shared humanity that light the path forward and restore hope.
