IIM Jammu inaugurates Management Development Program on Corporate Governance for GMs & DGMs of J&K Bank

JAMMU, Sept 12: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated a two-day Management Development Program (MDP) on Corporate Governance for the General Managers and Deputy General Managers of J&K Bank at its Vedanta MDP Block, Jagti Campus today on 12th Sept 2025. The program is designed to enhance leadership capacity, strengthen decision-making frameworks, and equip senior executives with a deeper understanding of governance principles essential for sustainable growth. The training program featured 24 participants from the J & K Bank.
Chief Guest Mr. Rakesh Koul, General Manager, J&K Bank, in his remarks, mentioned that the initiative by IIM Jammu reflects a forward-looking approach towards leadership development. He expressed confidence that the program would empower participants with governance-driven strategies to meet the evolving challenges of the banking sector.
Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, in his inaugural address, stated that the banking sector stands at the core of economic growth, and robust governance mechanisms ensure both ethical and sustainable outcomes. He emphasized that this program would serve as a platform for meaningful engagement and practical insights for senior leaders of J&K Bank.
Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, remarked that the program reflects IIM Jammu's strong focus on bridging academic excellence with industry needs. He added that such initiatives are designed to create immediate value for participants and long-term impact for institutions. He highlighted the role of executive education in building stronger corporate governance practices across industries.
The inaugural ceremony culminated with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ravij Seth, program director, followed by the national anthem and a group photograph. Present during the occasion were Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu.
The inaugural session began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dr. Atanu Bhuyan, Program Director, delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the program.
As part of the inaugural session, participants introduced themselves and shared their expectations from the program, underscoring their keen interest in enhancing governance-driven leadership practices within the banking sector.
The program will run from September 12 to 13, 2025, and will feature sessions on best practices in corporate governance, leadership strategies, and case-based discussions relevant to the banking sector. The two-day program, inaugurated at IIM Jammu's Jagti Campus, brought together senior leaders of J&K Bank to strengthen governance practices, leadership skills, and sustainable decision-making frameworks. This program reaffirms IIM Jammu's commitment to shaping visionary leaders who drive trust, integrity, and growth. The program was coordinated and executed by Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu.
