Quiz Competition on Population Geography held at GCW Udhampur 9/13/2025 11:13:57 PM Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Sept 13: To foster intellectual engagement and academic enrichment, the Department of Geography at Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur, organised a quiz competition focused on Population Geography in the college campus here today. The esteemed Principal of the College, Professor (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her address, she extended heartfelt congratulations to the victorious teams and lauded the organizers for their meticulous execution of the event. Professor Pathania underscored the significance of extracurricular activities in holistic education, urging students to actively participate in such endeavours. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 28 students, forming two teams, representing the 6th semester ( Major and Minor). Team Ravi emerged triumphant, securing the coveted first position, while Team Chenab demonstrated commendable prowess, earning the second position. The esteemed panel of judges comprised Prof . Pardeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Education , whose expertise ensured a fair and rigorous evaluation process. Professor Pooja Bharti, Head of the Department of Geography, acknowledged the participants’ dedication and enthusiasm. She adeptly managed the proceedings of the program and expressed gratitude to all contributors. The event was further enriched by the presence of faculty members, including Prof. Yash Paul from the Department of History , Prof. Swati Dutt from Sociology Department, Prof. Shama Rani from the Department of Dogri, Prof. Yash Kumar from the Department of Music and members of the Geography Department: Ms. Divya Sharma (Lecturer), Dr. Poonam Bharti (Lecturer), Dr. Sanjana Sharma (Lecturer) and Mr. Balbir Singh. Their presence underscored the institution’s collaborative spirit and commitment to academic excellence.
