Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, Sept 13: In a landmark achievement for healthcare in the Kishtwar district, the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Chatroo and Health & Wellness Centre Udil Gojran Chatroo have been awarded the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in recognition of their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services.
PHC Chatroo secured an impressive 91.49% score, while the Health & Wellness Centre Udil Gojran achieved 79.92%, successfully meeting all parameters required for NQAS certification. This marks a historic milestone, as the twin facilities become the first health centres in the Kishtwar district to achieve this prestigious accreditation.
The certification reflects excellence in six key notified areas, including preventive and curative services, infrastructure and equipment maintenance, infection control, waste management, maternal and child healthcare, diagnostic services, and community-centric health delivery. The National Assessment Team conducted a physical inspection of PHC Chatroo on August 11, 2025 and August 12, 2025, while the evaluation of the HW Centre Udil Gojran was carried out virtually on August 2, 2025. The assessment focused on critical aspects including quality of care, hygiene, patient safety, and service availability for communicable and non-communicable diseases. Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today visited PHC Chatroo and presided over a valedictory function, during which he inspected the facility and lauded the dedication of the healthcare teams of PHC Chatroo and HWC Udil Gojran.
The DC personally handed over certificates of appreciation to all the staff members, acknowledging their tireless efforts in improving health standards in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC expressed immense pride in the achievement, stating, “It is a matter of great honour that PHC Chatroo and Health & Wellness Centre Udil Gojran have become the first health institutions in the district to receive NQAS certification. This recognition is a direct reflection of the commitment, sincerity, and teamwork demonstrated by our healthcare personnel at all levels.
He also commended the untiring efforts of CMO Kishtwar, Dr. Rajinder Kumar; BMO Chatroo, Dr. Saima Agoo and the entire team of doctors, paramedical staff, drivers, and sanitation workers, who have worked diligently to raise the standards of healthcare delivery in this remote block and achieved the prestigious NQAS certification.
He said that this achievement not only brings pride to Kishtwar but also sets a benchmark for other health institutions to follow.
