Chandigarh, Sept 15: The Postgraduate Department of Hindi at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of IQAC, marked the celebration of Hindi Diwas with a cultural event and Kavi Sammelan. The event commenced on a devotional note with the soulful rendition of “Jai Maa Sharada Bhawani” by the students of the Music Department, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. This was followed by students’ engaging poetic recitations and an energetic natti dance performance, setting a lively and artistic tone for the day. The Kavi Sammelan enthralled poetry enthusiasts as eminent poets wove magic with their verses, exploring diverse shades of life. The celebrated poets who shared their creations included Mr. Prem Vij, Dr. Anish Garg, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Dr. Pragya Sharda, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Kundra, and Mr. Yash Kansal. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma reflected on the timeless significance of language. She said, “One day is not enough to celebrate a language. However modern one may be, one always thinks in one’s mother tongue. True communication from the heart is rooted in one’s own language. Language is both a symbol of culture and a medium of human experience.”
