9/15/2025 10:50:59 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 15: The Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has arrested a fraudster who posed as a Duty Officer to the Lieutenant Governor and duped people of over Rs 50 lakh by promising jobs and land allotments.
In a statement issued, the accused has been identified as Abdul Majid Mir, son of Abdul Rahim Mir, resident of Lishtiyal Kupwara.
He was arrested in connection with FIR No. 10/2025 registered at the Economic Offences Wing of CBK.
Investigations revealed that the accused lured complainants with fake promises of government jobs and land in SDA Colony, Bemina.
He had also issued forged appointment letters in the name of the Airport Authority of India and fabricated land allotment papers, purportedly from Srinagar Development Authority.
CBK said offences under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of IPC stand registered against him. The accused has been sent on five-day police remand by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Srinagar, for further investigation.
Authorities have urged people to remain cautious and avoid falling prey to such scams.
