jammu, Sept 17: As part of the celebrations of ‘Sewa Parv’, the NSS and NCC units of Government Degree College (GDC) Khour, in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department, organized a plantation drive within the college campus. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma, with the primary aim of promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a spirit of community service among students. The drive was started at 11:00 am, with the planting of 25 saplings of various species including Gulmohar, Peepal, and Amla. Approximately 40 students enthusiastically participated in the initiative, highlighting the growing awareness and commitment among youth toward ecological responsibility. The plantation drive emphasized the important role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, reducing pollution, and mitigating the effects of climate change. It also served to encourage students to take continuous steps toward creating a greener and more sustainable campus. The event was led by Lt. Shivani Sharma (ANO, Senior Division) and Prof. Sunil Kumar (PTI).Dr. Chetan Sharma ,HOD Physics and Dr. Anil Kumar Dogra ,HOD Botany coordinated the event. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth and impactful execution of the event. The plantation drive not only contributed positively to the environment but also fostered unity, teamwork, and a sense of belongingness among participants.
