REASI, Sept 17: Continuing its drive against drug menace, District Police Reasi foiled a narcotics smuggling attempt and apprehended two persons with heroin in Katra.
On the intervening night, a team of Police Station Katra during checking at PCP Nomain intercepted a vehicle (Maruti Alto) bearing registration number JK20B-9810, which was travelling towards Katra town from the Domail side. Two suspects were apprehended who were later identified as Ajay Singh S/I Raghubir Singh R/O Gunni, Parthal, Tehsil Katra and Yashpal Singh S/O Joginder Singh R/O Parthal, Katra
During their search, about 7.6 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. In this regard, Case FIR No. 260/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and investigation has been taken up.
It is pertinent to mention here that accused Ajay Singh is a habitual offender, involved in multiple criminal cases registered earlier at different Police Stations, including offences under the NDPS Act, IPC and Arms Act. The cases already registered against him are:
1. FIR No. 84/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, P/S Katra
2. FIR No. 33/2021 U/S 323/342/34 IPC, P/S Katra
3. FIR No. 74/2022 U/S 323/341/506 IPC, P/S Katra
4. FIR No. 106/2023 U/S 323/341/504/506 IPC, P/S Katra
5. FIR No. 128/2024 U/S 341/504/506 IPC & 4/25 Arms Act, P/S Katra
6. FIR No. 143/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, P/S Rhembal.
The whole operation was conducted under the leadership SHO P/S Katra Insp Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervisionof SDPO Katra Dr Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reaffirmed its commitment to curb the menace of drugs and reiterated that such offenders will be dealt with sternly under law.
