Jammu, Sept 19: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir UT, in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) Civil Airport Jammu, organized a significant blood donation camp on 17th September, 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The initiative is part of the nationwide voluntary blood donation campaign launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, which runs during Seva Pakhwad w.e.f. 17th September to 2nd October 2025, encouraging citizens across the country to “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives.” The camp witnessed overwhelming participation from airport staff, CISf, Volunteers etc., reflecting the shared commitment to humanitarian service. A dedicated medical team from Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu headed by Dr. Uttra sambyal and team Red Cross including Dr. Manpreet Kour, Medical Officer and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer ensured safe blood collection and donor care. Each donor underwent mandatory health screening, and post-donation refreshments were provided to maintain their well-being. Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary IRCS J&K, expressed gratitude to all participants, stating, “Blood donation is one of the most selfless acts of service to humanity. By joining this nationwide drive, we not only honour the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister but also strengthen the culture of voluntary blood donation in Jammu & Kashmir.” Airport Director, SH. Sanjeev Kumar Garg lauding the collaboration, said, “We are proud to partner with the Red Cross for this noble cause. Civil Airport Jammu is not just a transit point; it is a community hub, and today we have demonstrated how collective action can save countless lives.” This event marks the beginning of a series of blood donation camps that IRCS J&K will organize across various districts of the Union Territory during the fortnight-long national campaign. Camps are scheduled in collaboration with hospitals, educational institutions, corporate offices, and other community organizations to ensure a steady supply of blood to hospitals and patients in need, especially during medical emergencies and surgeries. IRCS J&K continues to play a pivotal role in healthcare, emergency response, ambulance services, and disaster relief, working tirelessly to uphold its mission of humanitarian service. Citizens are urged to participate in upcoming blood donation camps and inspire others to join this life-saving movement.
