Early Times Report HIRANAGAR, Sept 19: Today the Department of Botany in collaboration with social forestry department Organized a Swachhata Cum Plantation Drive on the occasion of celebration of Sewa Parv. The whole event organized under the Patronage of worthy Principal of the college Dr. Pragya Khanna. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students. On this occasion various medicinal and aromatic plants were planted with in the college campus, with the objective of promoting environmental sustainability and awareness about the significance of traditional medicinal flora. The plantation drive was led by Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal along with Dr. Harvinder Kour, Prof. Raman Kumar, and students from the Botany Department. The plants included Arjuna, different varieties of turmeric, Asparagus (Shatavari), Acorus (Vach), Meetha neem(curry leaves), Bryophyllum (Pathar chatta), Tinospora (Giloy), Aloe vera, Mint, Tulsi, Lemongrass, Periwinkle (Sadabahar), Acmella (Toothache plant), etc. In parallel, a swachhata drive was also undertaken in collaboration with the Soil Conservation Wing of the J&K Forest Department. A large number of students actively took part in cleaning the campus, displaying a strong commitment to ecological responsibility and campus hygiene. Dr. Pragya Khanna, worthy Principal appreciated the efforts of the Botany Department and encouraged students to continue engaging in such environment-friendly initiatives. The event concluded with a pledge by the participants to continue working towards a greener and cleaner environment.
