Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Sept 20: In celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, the School of Languages, Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized an Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Gandhi Ji's Contribution Towards Indian Education" under the ongoing national campaign of Sewa Parv. The event aimed to highlight and revisit Mahatma Gandhi's visionary ideas on education, including his emphasis on Nai Talim (Basic Education), character-building, self-reliance, and the integration of manual work with intellectual learning. Students from various departments actively participated in the competition, showcasing deep insight into Gandhi Ji's educational philosophy. Their essays reflected thoughtful interpretations of how Gandhian ideals can influence contemporary education and foster holistic development in learners. Dr. Ashu Vashist, Principal of GDC Vijaypur, lauded the efforts of the School of Languages and the enthusiastic participation of students. "Gandhi Ji believed that education must be rooted in one's culture and values. It is heartening to see young minds engage with these timeless ideas," she said. The competition not only served as a platform for creative expression but also encouraged critical thinking about India's educational journey and the relevance of Gandhian values in today's academic landscape. The event was coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (Dept. of Dogri), Dr. Naseem Choudhary (Dept. of English), and Prof Sonia Devi (Dept. of Hindi), who expressed gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and the college administration for their support. The winners of the competition were Kavita, B.A. Semester-I , Ruhi B.A. Semester I and Reshik Mehra B.A. Semester V who secured First, Second and Third position respectively. This initiative is part of GDC Vijaypur's broader commitment under Sewa Parv to inspire students through meaningful academic and service-oriented activities. |
