GDC Neeli Nallah organizes plantation drive

JAMMU, Sept 20: Under the aegis of Seva Parv, NSS Unit Govt Degree College Neeli Nallah in collaboration with JK Forest Protection Force successfully conducted plantation drive within the college campus, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. The drive was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the college. The drive was graced under the esteemed presence of Harshita Sharma, Deputy Director, Namrata Sharma, Assistant Director, Sudesh Verma, Additional Director and other officials from JK Forest Protection Force, Gamma Unit J5 Udhampur. The drive also witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members of the college. A variety of saplings, including native and shade-giving species were planted across the campus to enhance its green cover and promote ecological balance.
Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal highlighted the importance of collective efforts towards environmental protection, stating, "This initiative not only beautifies our campus but also inspires our students to take active roles in preserving nature." She also appreciated the dedicated efforts of Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, NSS Programme Officer and Prof. Rekha Sharma, NCORD Convenor for successfully coordinating and conducting such an impactful event. The Deputy Director from JK Forest Protection Force praised the college's proactive approach and assured continued support for similar eco-friendly activities.
The gathering was enriched by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Nishi Salathia, Dr. Dr. Bilal Ahmed, Dr. Mohd Aarif, and Dr. Ashiq Hussain. The event concluded with a commitment by all participants to nurture the planted saplings and advocate for environmental awareness in their communities. The plantation drive is part of GDC Neeli Nallah's broader vision to cultivate a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility among the youth.
