Samba, Sept 29: Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College (SPPND GDC) Samba successfully concluded a series of initiatives under the Sewa Parv celebrations, embodying the spirit of selfless service and community welfare. The activities, held from September 26th to 29th, focused on promoting education, health, and cleanliness. Enriching the Community Through Knowledge and Learning The college's Gyan Vatika, Book Reading Club, organized a four-day Book Donation Drive (26th to 29th September 2025) with the objective of establishing a Community Book Shelf in the college library. Staff and students enthusiastically contributed a wide array of books across various subjects, including literature, science, commerce, competitive exams, and general knowledge. The donated books will serve as a resource for both college students and community learners, actively promoting the culture of sharing knowledge. Promoting Health and Well-being The Department of Home Science organized a special Nutrition Counselling Session as part of the celebrations. Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Home Scientist, conducted the session, sensitizing students to the importance of a balanced diet, healthy eating practices, and lifestyle choices for overall well-being. The interactive session addressed students' doubts and nutrition myths, aiming to build awareness about preventive health and encourage the adoption of sustainable nutrition practices. Students concluded the session by taking a pledge to spread awareness on healthy eating habits among their peers and family. Spreading the Message of Cleanliness (Swachhta) The performance highlighted the critical importance of hygiene, waste management, adopting a plastic-free lifestyle, and community participation in creating a healthy environment. The play successfully inspired the audience and concluded with an oath-taking ceremony where students pledged to actively participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. All the initiatives were held under the guidance and patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, who lauded the enthusiasm and spirit of service demonstrated by the college faculty, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students. Dr. Abrol emphasized that such activities not only enrich the academic environment but also successfully serve as a valuable resource for the larger community, truly reflecting the essence of Sewa Parv and all activities conducted under the supervision of Assoc.
