Rajouri, Sept 29: As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025, a special awareness session was conducted for the troops stationed in Rajouri on the detrimental impacts of plastic use. The lecture aimed to educate the personnel on the severe environmental damage, health risks and long-term consequences associated with plastic consumption and improper disposal. The session highlighted the alarming rates at which plastic waste accumulates in our environment, contributing to soil degradation, water contamination and threatening wildlife. Experts emphasized that plastic, being non-biodegradable, remains in the environment for hundreds of years, posing a severe threat to future generations. To promote sustainable alternatives, the speakers provided practical solutions, recommending the use of eco-friendly products, including paper bags, jute bags and bamboo toothbrushes. These alternatives, which are biodegradable and compostable, significantly reduce plastic waste and support a cleaner, greener environment. The event also underlined the importance of reducing single-use plastic, encouraging the troops to adopt a lifestyle that supports environmental sustainability. The awareness session received positive feedback and participants pledged to spread the message further among their peers and communities. As part of the larger Swachhata Hi Seva initiative, this lecture aligns with the national goal to foster cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and collective action in the fight against plastic pollution.
