Samba, Sept 29: The Career Counselling Cell of Government Degree College, Vijaypur, organized an insightful workshop on “Self Employment and Artificial Intelligence” under various Clubs like Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat & Shikshit Bharat as part of the ongoing celebrations under the aegis of “Sewa Parv”. The workshop aimed to empower students with knowledge of emerging self-employment opportunities and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in various sectors. The event was graced by distinguished guests Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, and Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. Both guests shared their expert perspectives on the growing relevance of skill-based education and self-reliance among youth in the 21st century. The keynote speakers for the workshop were Dr. Harleen Kour, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, and Dr. Malvika Ashok, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Jammu. • Dr. Harleen Kour spoke extensively about entrepreneurial opportunities in commerce and how Self-employed professionals can work in diverse domains like startup, small business, trading, manufacturing, professional services like doctors, auditors, journalists, and individualised services like fashion designing, health insurance, wedding photography and interior decoration. • Dr. Malvika Ashok discussed the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, its real-world applications, and how students can begin exploring AI tools to enhance their career prospects and entrepreneurial ventures. She further added that the role of artificial intelligence in education is to make education more efficient, generate engaging content, and tailored to each student’s needs. The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Lecturer, Department of Education, who kept the event smoothly coordinated and engaging. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Convenor, Career Counselling Cell, who highlighted the importance of organizing such workshops to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications. The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Co-Convenor, Career Counselling Cell, who expressed gratitude to the guests, speakers, faculty members, and students for their active participation and contribution to the event’s success.
