Jammu, Sept 29: A Basic Training Programme for Rangers and Rovers was successfully organized over two days at the J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides Headquarters, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, drawing enthusiastic participation from students of the Department of Education and The Law School, University of Jammu, as well as Govt. College of Education, Canal Road, and Padma Shri Padma Sachdev P.G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The programme commenced with a formal welcome by Mr. Haroon Malik, who set a motivational tone for the day’s proceedings. A general discussion on Scouting and Guiding followed, led by Ms. Manjeet Kaur, who elaborated on the foundational principles, ethos, and spirit of the movement, helping participants connect deeply with its values. Highlighting the objectives of the training, Sh. Kotwal Ji conducted an informative and engaging session on the General Information Course (GIC). His address included interactive activities aimed at rejuvenating the spirit and morale of the young Rangers and Rovers, while emphasizing a balanced approach to leadership, teamwork, and personal development. Adding further depth to the programme, Mr. Haroon Malik and Sh. Kastoori Ji shared their rich experiences and valuable insights from their journey in the Scouting and Guiding movement. Their contributions enhanced the participants’ understanding and expanded their vocabulary and perspective on the roles and responsibilities within the movement. A key highlight of the event was the address by Wing Commander M.M. Joshi Ji, who offered an inspiring and contemporary perspective on the relevance of Scouting and Guiding in today’s fast-changing world. He applauded the students’ enthusiasm and dedication and encouraged them to uphold the ideals of service, discipline, and unity. The second day of the training programme focused on practical and physical activities. Participants were actively engaged in learning the correct procedure to hoist the Scout flag, perform march past, and sing the Prayer Song and Flag Song. Various other important topics related to the Scouting movement were also covered to enhance the participants’ overall knowledge and practical skill set. To ensure the well-being and comfort of all attendees, refreshments were thoughtfully arranged by the organizing team of the J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides. The two-day programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, moderated by Mr. Haroon Malik, where participants shared their reflections, takeaways, and personal growth experiences from the training. This collaborative initiative marks a significant step towards nurturing leadership, team spirit, and a strong sense of community service among the youth, reinforcing the timeless values and guiding principles of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement in Jammu & Kashmir.
