Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Sept 30: Continuing its relentless action against narcotics, Udhampur Police registered 101 cases under the NDPS Act from January to September 2025. A total of 146 drug peddlers were arrested, including 133 under NDPS and 13 under PIT NDPS/PSA. 45 vehicles used in narcotic smuggling were seized, and 08 pharmacy shops were sealed for violating H1 drug norms. Financial action led to the freezing of 54 bank accounts linked to drug traffickers, involving Rs 17,47,812. Narcotics worth Rs 7.91 crore were seized, including heroin, charas, poppy straw, and ganja. Further strengthening enforcement, property worth Rs 5.42 crore was attached under NDPS provisions- including houses, trucks, cars, bikes, flat, land, scooties, and saving accounts. Additionally, 2 kanal 10 marla of illicit opium cultivation was destroyed in Panchari. Professional investigation and prosecution led to 37 convictions in 28 cases, reflecting Udhampur Police's firm commitment towards a drug-free society. |
