Jammu, Oct 5: Dept. of Anesthesia and critical care, GMC Jammu, in collaboration with ISA Jammu City Branch, organized an academic event featuring a Pro-Con Debate and PG Quiz on 4th October 2025, ahead of World Anaesthesia Day. The event was attended by over 100 attendees, including HODs, consultants, residents, and postgraduates from GMC Jammu, ASCOMS, Narayana Hospital, and AIIMS Jammu.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Ashwani Kumar, highlighting the value of interactive learning. Dr. Anita Vig, HOD Anaesthesia, GMC Jammu added that such programs keep students motivated and updated. Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta graced the occasion as a chief guest and further engaged the audience, stressing the role of upcoming gadgets and technology, robotic-assisted surgeries, and the need for future doctors to be technologically adept.
The Pro- Con Debate had 8 participants. It was moderated by Dr Renu Wakhloo, Dr Naine, Dr Kunal and judged by Dr Anita Vig, Dr Nandita Mehta and Dr Vanilla Chopra. The 1st prize was bagged by Dr. Aneesha Gupta, PG, Dept of Anesthesia, GMC Jammu and the runner up position was secured by Dr. Tabeen, PG, Dept of Anesthesia, ASCOMS.
The Quiz featured 4 teams of 3 members each. It was moderated by Dr. Updesh, Dr. Jasmeen and Dr. Mehak. Narayana Hospital team secured 1st place (Dr. Sarvesh Singh, Dr. Barkha Jaiswal, Dr. Jahangir Ahmad), while GMC Jammu team emerged runner-up (Dr. Arivazhagan, Dr. Aneesha Gupta, Dr. Deepna Bhau). The event celebrated knowledge and reinforced the spirit of holistic learning and academic excellence.
The program was honored by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Nandita Mehta, Dr. Smriti Gulati, Dr, Anju Jamwal, Dr. Madan Katoch, Dr. Sangeeta Singh, Dr Vanilla Chopra. Dr. Isha Gupta ensured the smooth execution of this event. Dr. Updesh Kumar, General Secretary, ISA Jammu, concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
